The 8th of the 12th lunar month is the Laba Festival. It is a folk custom to eat Laba porridge. Laba porridge, also known as "seven treasures and five flavors porridge", "Buddha porridge" and "Everyone's meal", is a porridge made from a variety of ingredients. "Eating Laba congee" is the custom of Laba Festival. The traditional ingredients of Laba congee include rice, millet, corn, pearl barley, red dates, lotus seeds, peanuts, longan and various beans (such as red bean, mung bean, yellow bean, black bean, kidney bean, etc.).
