Weather resistant steel smelting process

The main technical support point that the weather-resistant steel plate can be used as a facade material is that the weather-resistant steel plate has strong erosion resistance compared with ordinary steel. Under natural weather, the weather-resistant steel plate forms a dense oxide layer about 50-100 microns thick between the rust layer and the substrate metal by adding weather-resistant elements such as chromium, niobium, molybdenum, phosphorus, and titanium.

Because of the existence of this dense oxide film, it prevents oxygen and water in the atmosphere from penetrating into the steel matrix, and slows down the corrosion to the depth of the steel material, thus greatly improving the atmospheric erosion resistance of the steel material. According to the study, depending on the composition of the weather-resistant steel plate, the use of steel components is different, and the atmospheric erosion resistance of the weather-resistant steel plate is 5-8 times better than that of ordinary steel.

Weather-resistant steel plates generally adopt the process route of concentrate feeding - smelting (converter, electric furnace - micro-alloying treatment - blowing -LF refining - low superheat continuous casting (feeding rare earth wire)- controlled rolling and controlled cooling. In the process of smelting, the scrap steel is added to the furnace with the charge, smelted according to the conventional process, after the steel is added to the deoxidizer and alloy, the molten steel is blown and treated, and then cast. The molten steel after blowing and tempering is cast into slab by the continuous casting machine. Due to the addition of rare earth elements in the steel, the red rust steel plate is purified and the content of inclusions is greatly reduced.
