1. Material introduction

Weathering steel, that is, atmospheric corrosion resistant steel, originated in North America Corten steel, is a low alloy steel series between ordinary steel and stainless steel. Weathering steel is made of ordinary carbon steel with a small amount of corrosion resistant elements such as copper and nickel, and has the characteristics of strength, plastic extension, molding, welding and cutting, abrasion and high temperature of high-quality steel. The weather resistance is 2 to 8 times that of ordinary carbon steel, and the coating property is 1.5 to 10 times that of ordinary carbon steel. Weather resistance principle: After adding phosphorus, copper, chromium, nickel and other weather resistance elements to the steel, the steel forms a dense and strong adhesion oxide layer between the rust layer and the matrix. This special dense oxide layer has a stable and uniform natural rust red feature, which can prevent oxygen and water in the atmosphere from penetrating into the matrix and protect the matrix below the rust layer to slow down its corrosion rate.
